Tradition tells us that one should bestow gifts of wood upon their spouse for this special 5 year celebration. The idea is that the wood reflects the strength and durability of your marriage, as well as the strong eternal roots you’re putting down.
Personally I kind of like traditions like this. Especially if they have deeper meaning. It also narrows down gift buying options which tends to make things a little easier.
Wood is a simple one thankfully. There are so many great options out there. You could go practical or you could go sentimental.
This hammer that I found on Amazon tickles me so much that I honestly want to get married just so I can give it to my own husband in 5 years. Seriously! I mean, ‘Wood you believe it’s been 5 years?!‘ is just super clever. You could get that engraved on a different gift and it would still work, but what man doesn’t like a hammer?
I also like the apt text on the reverse side – ‘When it comes to being a great husband, you nailed it!‘
A nice idea that works on a sentimental level, for either husband or wife would be choosing a special photo of the two of you and presenting it in a beautiful wooden frame. It’s a popular choice, but it always goes down well provided you choose a flattering and appropriate photo.
As a woman myself, I’d personally like something like this wooden trinket box.
It is hand crafted from Moroccan Thuya Burl wood, so it’s tasteful and not exactly cheap. It would signify to the woman in your life that you think she is worth it.
Hopefully she’ll have plenty of jewellery that you’ve spoiled her with over the years to fill it with.
